"Lovely stay at this well maintained beachfront home. Great location in the Sanderling Community, just minutes from Duck’s central shopping district. I can’t think of a better town to stay in on OBX. The main floor of the house is spacious, open and comfortably furnished. Beautiful light and ocean views, adjacent to a direct path over the dunes to the beach. The bedrooms are simply but nicely appointed and we appreciated the firm mattresss and new linens. Slept great. Two parents, two teens and grandma had a very happy and memorable week."

Response:

"The home (Point Break B963) had excellent proximity to the beach and a wonderful view of the ocean from the main floor. The furniture was comfortable and the house is suitable for a family of 8. The current owners are new and appear to be in the process of updating everything, and overall we had an excellent two week stay."

Response:
We are glad to hear that you had a nice stay and we are very appreciative of the detailed suggestions. As you noticed (as new owners) we are working through a number of updates and these observations/suggestions are super helpful. Thankfully most of these are really easy to address. We will be back in July and will make a number of updates for these items and more. Hopefully you will stay with us again in the future!

"This was our first trip to Outer Banks. We’ve rented several vacation homes over the years so we have a pretty good feel for what to expect. Our first impression of the Harrison wasn’t great, but wasn’t horrible either. It felt a bit worn with spider webs and bugs inside the windows. However, everything (besides bugs and patios) felt clean. By the first evening we were so comfortable, it felt like we were staying in a family member’s home. As someone else said, it was worn enough we were not afraid to “live” in it. The location was awesome, but views from the home were not what we expected. The windows were so dirty we could barely see the ocean and the midges were so bad on the deck we only used it once. The view was the biggest reason I went with oceanfront, so I was disappointed. The screened porch was not cleaned and someone previously had left a screen off. It was easily fixed, but the bugs had done their damage. We know this is not all the rental company’s fault, but I think next time we will stay more interior and not pay extra for the deck and view. We never used any of it. They told us to keep the blinds closed to help with the bugs, but nothing we did mattered. They were swarming like crazy! The beds were comfortable, there were tons of outlets and the kitchen was well stocked with dishes and utensils (probably the best we’ve seen in a rental house). We couldn’t find any salt in the local stores and had to resolve to collecting small packages when we went out to eat. Every home we’ve stayed in had at least salt and pepper, but I was not really surprised this house didn’t (they warned us). I liked that Twiddy kept in touch with us via text message. I liked the little welcome package. The laundry was good and we loved being able to walk to the beach every morning and night. Overall I give it 4 out of 5. If they could clean the bugs better and fix the minor cosmetic issues (drywall, etc) I would give them a 5. Since we didn’t see a lot of bugs around the other places we visited, it definitely felt like more could be done. I would pay more in cleaning fees to get the view better!"

Response:
The midges have been constant. We have a reverse floor plan which means no ocean view from the downstairs bedrooms/view of dunes. Great views upstairs. Your comments are well taken and we are, after not being here re Covid, refurbishing and repairing. Thank you for your comments.

"The house was perfect for what we needed. Just my husband and I stayed, but its big enough for 2 families. The view is incredible and a short, easy walk to the beach. Bed was comfortable. My only complaint was there wasn't a comfortable couch to relax on in the evenings."

Response:
Thank you for your stay and comments. We are replacing the couches!

"It was warmth, views, and shelter from a stormy half week and a 'base' for enjoying the beach in the beautiful sun of the the 2nd half week."

Response:
Thank you for your suggestions. We have new water heater and now that we can travel able to improve furnishings and supplies. As for the steak knives oversupply evidently, we had a renter that did want to have a bull roast. As with wine glasses, pillows, paring knives, these things tend to disappear over the season. Thank you for your stay.

"This house was a good choice for our family getaway. The carpeted floors are little kid friendly. Great room had nice views, a big 10-person table with room for crafts and puzzles, and a new TV. Beach access is a short walk away over the dunes. Next time we will bring kitchen rags, towels, and spray cleaner for tidying because the house had only two kitchen towels. There was no dish drain, but otherwise the kitchen was well stocked with silverware, dishes, and glasses. We didn't discover until halfway through the trip that the house has TWO thermostats, so the bedroom floor was chilly for several nights until we figured that out. A "guide to this house" would have been nice. The open showers in the master bedrooms are a little odd -- a shower curtain would be welcome. Overall this house had a great location close to the beach and was well-worn enough to make us feel at ease with kids."

Response:
Thank you for your stay. We start out the season with dishtowels but they tend to get thrown out over the season. We have replaced the dish drain. Good suggestion regarding guide to the house.

"We had a fantastic week at this quaint coastal cottage. Nothing beats being so close to the ocean! The living area was very spacious. Would love to come back again!"
