The "Champagne Chateau" sits serenely behind a wide dune overlooking the beach. Surrounded by mature trees, the two-acre location of this exquisite oceanfront estate was chosen by the original owners because of the afforded privacy. Along the ocean, this one-of-a-kind haven is scenically landscaped with sea coast plants and seasonal flowers. Designed in the style of grand beach manors of a bygone era for gatherings of family and friends, but still cozy enough for a few. The home was designed by a notable North Carolina architect who integrated Northern Shingle style with elements of NC historic plantation homes by presenting a dramatic stair tower from the west side and double porches on the east, a detail brought to the Carolinas by planters from the West Indies. Built as a three-generation family beach home - for any time of the year - this former Du Pont residence has several wings to accommodate family groups with central gathering areas. Adjoins the Audubon Sanctuary and not far from the many amenities of Sanderling and Duck.
The salon-style upper-level living area opens onto covered decks facing the ocean and westward to decks with views of the sound. The formal living room is a large area full of light with ocean views to the east and sound views to the west. Picture windows are the centerpiece of each of the four sitting bays on either side of the doors. The high tray ceiling is of clear Carolina cedar and the windows, doors and baseboards are clear cypress with wide heart pine floors. Enjoy ocean views from the master suite or cooking in the large kitchen with several work stations for food preparation by either extended family or caterer. The kitchen also has an alcove bar area boasting an under-counter wine cooler, refrigerator and a wall of pull-out pantry cabinets. For eating the dining room highlight is the Venetian wax white and blue walls. A picture-window bay on the east brings in the light and ocean vista. On the west, an over-sized glass door opens to a balcony overlooking the garden and Currituck sound. After a good meal, head to the bedrooms that are spacious and comfortable with well-appointed bathrooms. Separate wings provide private, peaceful sleeping space for all. Come and experience living in the preserved natural habitat of this Atlantic Ocean to Currituck Sound community!
|Level 2||Two MBRs (K, DB/Tr); galley kitchen; laundry.|
Exterior amenities include a private lighted walkway to the beach and dunetop gazebo.

Looking at this residence, we can't really tell if there is a clear view of the ocean from the porch/deck on the back of the house (can we see over the shrubbery?).
Steve, B894 offers clear ocean views from all East facing decks and windows on Level 2. The shrubs do interfere with views on Level 1

We stayed here last year and in contrast to your answer last year, there was a baby crib. Is this going to be included in 2015?
John, baby equipment is not guaranteed for any of our vacation homes. Baby item requirements and recalls constantly change and many become obsolete after just one vacation season. In that regard Twiddy, along with our homeowners, made the decision to remove advertisement and discontinued the tracking of any baby equipment in our homes beginning in 2012. If you would like to rent baby equipment for your stay, Just for the Beach, Moneysworth, and Ocean Atlantic Rentals all provide baby equipment rentals. For contact information, please visit www.twiddy.com/activities/services.aspx.
