Private pools are available from the week beginning April 29/30/May 1 through the week beginning October 7/8/9, officially closing the week beginning October 14/15/16 (unless otherwise advertised). Pools are cleaned, vacuumed and serviced on the day of guest arrival. A mid-week service, including chemical and mechanical checks, is provided, but does not include cleaning or vacuuming. The leaseholder will be charged for additional cleanings necessary due to misuse.
Heated pool availability dates and fees vary; please see individual home information for details. Unless otherwise advertised, pools are not heated in July and August. Fees for heated pools are either fixed (plus tax) or included in the rental fee. No refunds will be issued if a guest decides they would like this amenity turned off during their stay. Requests for this optional amenity should be confirmed and paid for prior to arrival. The heated pool fee will not be prorated if this service is requested at check-in or during your stay. Please note pool heaters are delicate amenities. Their effectiveness is subject to the climate, weather conditions and ambient air temperature. Salt air is quite corrosive and may hinder the function of these amenities after prolonged exposure. Heated pools are generally able to reach a maximum temperature range of 75 to 80 degrees.
Occasionally, some pools in Dare and Currituck counties experience a mild ground current. Generally this is not caused by a pool defect or the household electrical system, but appears as a result of the earth’s natural electrical current. Certain homes may be affected and the current tends to be intermittent in nature. Please be advised that this may affect the operation of pacemakers and other similar devices.
Hot tubs are equipped with water heaters and thermostats for temperature control. Hot tubs are available for use year-round, and are cleaned, vacuumed and serviced on the day of guest arrival. A mid-week service, including chemical and mechanical checks, is provided, but does not include vacuuming or cleaning. The leaseholder will be charged for additional cleanings necessary due to misuse. Homes not equipped with hot tubs do not allow the rental of portable hot tubs or soft spas due to possible electrical and/or structural problems.
Pregnant women, individuals taking medication, and those with diabetes, high or low blood pressure, heart disease or other cardiovascular conditions should consult their physician prior to entering a hot tub. Children under the age of 12 are prohibited from entering hot tubs at any time. Overuse or misuse of hot tubs results in a higher possibility of infection; sanitizers are not able to combat abnormally elevated levels of bacteria. Please do not remove floating chemical dispensers from your hot tub at any time. Removal may result in minor health related problems, such as folliculitis.

Outdoor community pools are generally open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and only welcome guests and homeowners of that community. Most communities do not allow guests to use the amenities prior to check-in or after check-out, so please plan your travel times accordingly.
Fireplaces are available for use until April 9 and after October 10, 2015. Propane deliveries may take several days and cannot be guaranteed. No refunds will be issued for non-functioning fireplaces.
