New to Twiddy for 2018!
Updates for 2018 include a new expanded dune deck with new exterior furniture for the deck!
Experience a classic oceanfront vacation at this beautiful, well-appointed retreat! Situated at the end of a quiet street, peace and relaxation are on the agenda at “Holden”. While this home has a classic and familiar feel, its furnishings and decor are anything but typical. In addition to countless new and thoughtful touches throughout, you’ll find recent modern updates including new appliances, decor, and remodeled bathroom and kitchen areas. A convenient elevator makes unpacking and settling in a breeze. As an added bonus, the home boasts a central location in Southern Shores, allowing guests to easily access restaurants, shops, and attractions in both Duck and Kitty Hawk.
On the exterior, the spacious deck has plenty of room for everyone to enjoy the home’s serene location and salty ocean breezes. Guests with low mobility will appreciate the ramp that leads from the first level to the mid-level deck. Take a stroll out to the private dune deck, where you can relax with the sound of crashing waves and the warmth of the sun on your shoulders. From there, a convenient sand path leads you and your guests effortlessly to the beach for shell-searching or to dip your toes in the water.
Inside, comfortable furniture invites you to kick back and relax. The main living areas can be found on the mid-level. Preparing meals for the group is anything but a chore in the gorgeous, newly remodeled kitchen complete with new stainless steel appliances, light fixtures, flooring, countertop, and backsplash. The great room, dining room, and den are just steps from the kitchen and allow plenty of space for everyone to gather and enjoy each other’s company. Just off of the common areas lies the screened porch, where guests can enjoy a meal in the shade while taking in views and ocean breezes. A bedroom with two bunk beds and a full hall bath with handicap-friendly features finish off the mid-level. Downstairs, a garage with ping pong offers an opportunity for friendly competition. The top level consists of a master bedroom with private ensuite bathroom, three additional bedrooms, and a full bathroom in the hall.

How steep and long is the walk from the dune deck to the beach? Appropriate for young children or older ones?
The walkway to the beach for A161 is relative short, approximately 20 yds. It is a wooden boardwalk with a very gradually incline and steps at the ends that descend to the beach.

This street looks nice and quiet, how far is the walk to downtown Duck? Could we walk or bike in as a family?
That is a great question Ross. The street does see a bit of traffic, however, there are wonderful bike/walking paths, connecting this community to the Duck area. These paths provide a safe way for pedestrians and bikers to travel. It is approximately 2 miles from A161-Holden, to Duck village. You'll find it just a short distance to a wonderful quaint village filled with restaurants offering great food, and small locally owned shops offering a little something for everyone.
