The Private Beach Walkway with Steps has been updated to a Private Beach Walkway with No Steps. There are steps leading up to the top of the dune, with a sand path down to the beach. Updated 3/31/25

"Morning Star I was a comfortable home extremely close to the ocean with amazing views. We really appreciated the very comfortable rockers on the top deck. The elevator made bringing in luggage and supplies and going from floor to floor so easy. The showers in the master bedrooms were awesome! The kitchen appliances were top-notch and cookware plentiful. We used the gas fireplace as we were off-season and had some cold days. We’ve been renting houses at the OBX since 1978 and this was our favorite mostly due to the proximity to the beach and the hot tub on the middle deck out of the sun."
"We enjoyed the view every day all day! Morning Star is so close to the beach and that enhances the experience. The beds are comfortable and the kitchen appliances fabulous…also well stocked with cooking utensils. The hot tub on the middle deck gets you out of the sun and provides you with a view of the ocean. There are no grab bars on the hot tub so if mobility is an issue you need to use extreme caution. The elevator was wonderful. The laundry room with upscale washer and dryer and laundry sink was great. Would definitely rent again."

"Been coming to Duck for 13 years and love 'our' Twiddy home! This year we got to enjoy the beach chair & umbrella service. Loved it, hopefully we won't have to bring our own next year- that take up a lot of room in the car. Also the new rocking chairs on the top deck were so wonderful for watching the sun come up while drinking our coffee & tea. New lounge chairs by the pool and a charcoal grill were an unexpected addition. A new hose faucet in the bottom level would be nice for next year. (the hose leaked all over leaving large puddles of water) But the overall experience was great and we are already looking to return next year!"

We greatly appreciate your repeated visits to our home and hope you will enjoy many more years with us on the Outer Banks. All of the mattresses in the house have been replaced since your last stay and we think you’ll find them quite comfortable when you return. Also, we continue to look for ways to improve the technology in the house in a way that is user-friendly for most people. Pro tip: to prevent the outside shower doors from blowing in the wind, you can secure them with the latch on the upper part of each door.

"We love this house and have been staying here for several years, but it's starting to show some wear and tear. To name a few, the kitchen tiles are starting to break, especially the ones behind the sink, the screens doors are coming off of the track and the main stairwell needs painted. The outside furniture, which used to be gorgeous, has been replaced with cheap plastic chairs. Also, there are no chairs on the second level to enjoy the ocean waves. We will continue to come here, but hope these fixes are taken care of in the future. #obx2022"
"This home provided us the perfect place for a relaxing week. We chose to get the pool heated ($450) it was a must for us with 3 little kids. The house was a bit dated but was VERY CLEAN and COMFORTABLE. The views were so beautiful! The home owners are very lucky to own a piece of heaven & we are thankful for letting us rent their home. One thing I would mention is the path (not boardwalk the actual sand) from beach to home is a hill. My mother traveled with us, she is 65 & has had surgery on both her ankles. The hill did prove to be an issue for us but since the house is located next to the public beach access we used that and it worked fine - still a hill but much less of an incline. I would worry that elderly guests by have trouble using the private entrance from beach. We like it so good we have plans to return next year!"
"We usually stay in Corolla or Pine Island. The homes there are newer and therefore it may not be fair for us to rate this house comparatively. On the good side this house had a nice layout and the rooms were large. The elevator worked well and was a plus. The beds were comfortable. The pool was a nice large size and the ledges in it were perfect for sitting in the water. The welcome package and beach cabana plus were great extras and were really appreciated! On the downside the decks and furnishings were starting to show wear and tear. The lock was completely missing on the living room door to the deck and a couple of the second floor bedroom deck doors had locks that were frozen in the open position and could not be locked. We had trouble with the smoke alarms and with algae in the pool. This house is also directly next to the public beach access so it was more crowded on the beach in the area right by us. The beach is wider and the sand softer in Corolla than here in Duck too. We will probably go back to staying in Corolla despite the slightly longer drive to get there."
"This vacation home has become our “go to” place for wonderful memories! The home is beautifully decorated and has everything for a wonderful vacation! The pool is huge! The views from the decks are incredible! I am 55 and all of a sudden dealing with lower back issues. The mattresses in the home are high quality and I was able to get a good nights sleep every night! This is not always easy to accomplish in a vacation home! I love the quiet neighborhood as well. This vacation we celebrated my daughters wedding at the Kitty Hawk Pier! We were blessed with 7 beautiful days in Morning Star 1 to reflect on the occasion."
