"We loved having our own, very private pool and ample space for all of us to spread out (17 people total including kids)! Access to the beach was the perfect distance, although the stairs were a bit tough for our older family members. We found easy solutions for them so it was not an issue. The house is in the perfect spot, with a short drive to Tim Buck II and the grocery stores. It was a nice neighborhood to take our kids for walks through. We also ran into a few snags, but immediately after calling twiddy, maintenance was at the house very quickly to resolve our problem. Many laughs were had and many great memories were made at Beach Happy."
"The home had plenty of room for our sizable family gathering. The pool and hot tub were great. Pool table fun for the gang. Just a great house for a big family and close to a very nice beach just on the other side of the dunes. Plenty of parking too. Two refrigerators in the kitchen was really handy. Plenty of room for all of us to have dinner together. The kitchen was well equipped. Downstairs fridge in the cabana bar area near the pool too! Outside near the cabana/pool area there are two grills. One gas and one for charcoal. Good floor plan overall and nicely appointed. Elevator from ground floor to top floor made all accessible regardless of mobility. Service requests for two small issues handled quickly and with professionalism. Our first stay at a Twiddy property and the experience was all we could have asked for."
"The house was beautiful. The kitchen was fairly well stocked, could use another cookie sheet and a pair of scissors. The kitchen outlets didn’t all work, and at one point a fuse blew. The location to the beach was fabulous, although the stairs over the dunes were definitely high and would cause an issue for elderly, or anyone with bad knees. There were a good amount of beach chairs. The outdoor pool area was nice with good furniture. The gas grill did run out on us as well after only 1 use, so that was a bummer. If I could recommend 1 thing to the owner, it would be that the double bunk room, which is most likely usually used for the kids, should be on the 2nd floor. Not right next to the pool table, bar and entertainment area."
"Overall, a very nice home to rent. However, I would not recommend the home's dune access to elderly or those with bad knees/hips. My parents have both and struggled slightly. There are a total of 22 steep steps to climb getting to the beach, and then just about as many to descend on the other side. Suggestions: Replenishment of missing pots and pans. Mixing bowls and some food storage ware would be great for those large meals. And sharp knives or a sharpener would be a great addition to the home. However, the home is furnished beautifully and well maintained from the looks of it. A couple of small complaints: We were not told that trailers/golf carts are not allowed in Ocean Sands. After receiving a WARNING from the Home Owners Association, we were able to relocated them to another location (though not ideal) prior to receipt of a fine. Our propane ran out use #2 in the middle of a meal. Our option was to replenish at our time and expense for reimbursement or figure out Option B. Due to the time required to make the exchange, we opted for Option B. The pool/hot tub were not clean upon arrival. The pool guy came midweek and serviced both, returning another day to vacuum the pool. He did what he could to shock both, but ultimately had to drain and refill the hot tub. The trash was only dumped on Tuesday at this location. Unfortunately, the cans were full from the previous week's renters, and only 1 of the recycling got dumped, not the trash. When we left Sunday, we had a TON of trash. The home was not the reason for a 4-star rating, mainly the service. I know COVID-19 has impacted staffing and the slips show a little more this year than years previous. We still managed to have a delightful time and enjoyed our 25th year of OBX vacations to the hilt. Til next year..."
"Beach Happy was a very nice house for our vacation. The house decor was beautiful and inviting for a beach relaxation vacation week. Plenty of room for the family. Loved having two refrigerators, two dishwashers, two washers and two dryers. Very nice pool and hot tub for the family to enjoy. Short walk to the beach. Location was wonderful. Always enjoy OBX."
