"The top floor layout is exceptionally functional. The large dining room table easily accommodated all 15 of us. The circular staircase provided a great backdrop for our Kodak moments, at both the top and bottom of the stairwell. It is beautiful, graceful, and well proportioned. The 360-degree deck at both the top and 2nd levels provided a nice walking track regardless of weather. The kitchen layout made it easy for several 'chefs' to access various workplaces without getting in one-another's way. The whole home is generously populated with comfortable chairs including table lamps that provide well lighted reading spaces for us bookish types. The artwork on the walls befits the elegance of the home, and was much enjoyed. The furnishings throughout were all top-of-the-line and comfortable. The bedrooms were all furnished with comfortable, plush mattresses on the beds, and with chairs in which to sit while putting on our socks. The bathrooms were all generously sized and fitted with cabinets that provided plenty of space on which to place our toiletries. Every bathroom was equipped with a walk-in shower, which is far and away our preferred accommodation. The inclusion of two additional full-size refrigerators in the downstairs rooms was appreciated and put to good use. The pool deck and covered patio is a visual treat and a delightful place to relax. We all loved the spectacular architecture of the building, especially the semi-circular glass walls that were a delight to behold, both inside and out. This house is indisputably the finest home we have ever had the privilege of occupying, to the point that we signed up for another week the same day we checked out from our current visit."

"A Welcome Respite was the best home we have stayed at architecturally. Spaces for recreation, both inside and out, were outstanding, the kitchen was wonderful, and the rooms and bathrooms added to ease of use and comfort. Everyone could have a "good room." Perhaps this means that the kind of vacation comfort that is ideal is also expensive, as this was the most expensive house we have stayed in. I personally loved the aesthetics of having grounds with beautiful flowering plantings and being in the Pine Island neighborhood where you have unobstructed sunrise and sunset views. I liked looking out on a lot of greenery. I liked the beach approach of being very short and easy to get to. I loved the stairs without railings. I liked the spacing from the neighbors, and noticed on the map that the three houses in the Station One Lane area are unusual in that respect. Other houses in Pine Island are not as spread out. I am sad that such homes get booked up so fast, so don't want my comments to be published, increasing the competition. It is hard to get a big group to commit early enough to sign up for the week you want. But I commend Twiddy for not giving a right of first refusal to the same people year after year. That would be worse and make it impossible to ever stay at a great house. We left window-cleaning equipment in the broom closet for the next renters to use, should they wish to do so. We had to clean the windows outside to be able to enjoy the view. That is not the fault of the cleaning crew, I am sure. It is hard to stay ahead of that at a beach home. I am not complaining. I hope we get to stay here again. I am currently on hold, but need to have the rest of my family available to come on the week I am holding, as it is further into the summer. Please convey my thanks to the owners for the use of their house."

"The location is heavenly. The home has unobstructed sound and ocean views. Sunsets, moonrises, were glorious. We even saw bioluminescence one night, waves were glowing in the calm ocean. The outside pool area is perfect for a family with small children. Pool, hot tub, putt putt course in a contained area with shade! The sauna was a clutch amenity. Surf or run on the nearby Audubon trail then sauna....as many times as you can. Theatre room was massive and well appointed. The kitchen was well stocked and had wonderful views. The outside porches always have a sunny or shady spot in or out of the breeze."

"Top tier home quality, thoughtful design, and a propitious location. The home's location's makes you feel like you are on a cruise ship. Wide expanse of ocean on one side and the Currituck sound on the other. The pool area is a resort type level of entertainment. We had a few families with smaller children. The kids played in the pool and hot tub, played mini golf, had snacks at the bar...while the adults sat in porch swings that were all in the shade. For hours we were able to relax and catch up. The beach is essentially private as our families played together with an abundance of space. We also enjoyed a short walk on the Audubon trail, which was a 5 minute walk from the home. The kitchen was well stocked and had a great layout for everyone to enjoy meals together. The sauna was a huge hit after swimming in the ocean. The theatre room had a great layout for different family sizes and ages. The south deck screen porch was nothing short of magical. We spent hours on the deck watching the ocean, the moonrise, and sunsets. Everyone in the group made the easy decision, let's return next year. Exquisite experience. Wonderful memories."
"We have been looking at this house for many years but it was never a rental. When it came on the market we booked it right away, it did not disappoint. It was private it was immaculate and more then we could have hoped for. We have been coming down to the outer banks for many years and have never stayed in the same house twice. we booked for next year and this will be our go to house from now on. We absolutely LOVED it."
"The home sits on a beautiful lot with oceanfront privacy. The house is very nice, but also very dated for its comps in the market. There were many frustrating issues to contend with -- the refrigerator not working properly, the icemakers not working, the A/C system was very uneven with rooms either freezing or hot, and the electrical lighting system was very clunky to work with. We had the refrigerator serviced but it still didn't get cold -- and having to go down two levels to access a working refrigerator really isn't acceptable for a house of this size and cost. We have been coming to the Outer Banks for over 40 years and the midges were the worst they have ever been. Not sure if more could have been done to deal with this at our property but it was another issue. We enjoyed a relaxing week with our family and the home was welcoming. But to be rented again, I would recommend that the issues referenced above (and others) be addressed."
