"I hope this review of Windermere makes it to the website. I don't believe we saw any reviews before we rented and this house deserves a review. It was recently renovated and everything is top shelf. The pool / tiki bar area was amazing - outdoor ping pong was a big hit and having a bar area was also much appreciated. All of the outside furniture is brand new and extremely comfortable. Beds are good as well, unlike many of the homes we've rented in the past. Inside, the shuffleboard table got the most use and was a blast. The kitchen had everything we needed and the 2nd fridge was a big help as well. Ice is the only issue...the icemaker wasn't producing ice and, even if it was, it wouldn't be nearly enough. So make sure to bring good coolers that can store ice and pick it up before you go to the house The views were amazing - it was a short walk to the beach, but next year we're going to bring a Jeep so that we can take it on the beach every day. We drove our Honda Pilot and it was a bit dicey on the beach...we drug the bumper a bit but as long as you go slow, you get along fine. On the first night, we had 10 wild horses wandering near the house (but didn't see many after that). It is extremely secluded...no stores, no noise, no lights at night. All you hear is the waves hitting the shore. The star gazing was incredible. If you enjoy looking at the stars, pack some aluminum foil. The owner put solar powered led lights on every deck post. The top deck was so nice for viewing, but at night it felt like you were on stage! To make it dark, I simply put foil over the top of each post to block the solar panel and after the first night, you could see everything in the sky. I hope this review is helpful. We've been coming to OBX for many years and have stayed in every area from north to south. This was the most enjoyable vacation ever. But we had all adults on this trip. If you have small children that need more entertainment than a pool, beach and hot tub can provide, you may be better in another area. If you want an amazing home with peace and quiet, this is the place for you."
