House is furnished beautifully and well set up for families. Was a little unprepared for the distance to the grocery store and eatery’s but now we know lol. Definitely worth the trip for peace and quiet and beach life."
Thank you for complimenting the exterior of our updated Beach house. It has been a 3 year project with the bottom level, staircase to the pool, and other updates starting after Labor Day. My husband built the walkway to the beach this spring with guidance from the locals.

"We enjoyed our stay at Paradise Lost again this year. This was our third year to stay there. We enjoy the ocean view, and all the house has to offer. Really liked the updates this year to the home and furnishings. Especially the tall poly chairs on the decks. They made it really nice to sit on the deck and enjoy a beverage and watch the ocean. Our whole family enjoyed the week."

"We have stayed in this home about 3 or 4 times. Its perfect for our family . We love its location and how its set up. The owners take great care of their place and we try to be conscientious responsible renters. Its just a very comfortable place."

"Just as the name says. Paradise, you feel it when you get to the house. The amazing views from not only the top floor but the second floor as well(even the two bottom floor rooms can see the ocean and watch the sun come up over the horizon). The house has a well laid out floor plan for the amount of guests it can hold. Three couples were able to vacation when we stayed so the house felt very big. It was needed because our week long stay was rain almost every day. We had a one year old and having rented a baby gate it was needed since he could walk, keep that in mind if your child/children require it. The walk to the beach is shorter than what the pictures lead you to believe which is nice. Twiddy was also a big help with taking care of the little things we needed throughout the week. Everything was taken care of that day within a few hours. The drive to the house on the beach is fun but factor in that it takes 45 minutes to get to from blacktop to the rental. Like someone else stated better suited for children 5 and up since the built in benches in the deck rail are a safety concern. Also the two couches on the top floor are against the railing for the opening that can see down to the second floor. Small children playing on the couches would be the biggest concern. All in all everyone was happy with the house and we are all happy to stay there again in the future."
Thank you for your positive review . The house/deck in particular was built in 1999. This year we are replacing our deck on the third floor and “the benches in the deck rail” will be removed for the exact concerns you expressed.

"Spectacular oceanfront views from the unique “ship watch” area of the upper floor. Nicely equipped, new refrigerator. Spacious bedrooms and second kitchenette on first level that provides additional cooler capacity. Wild horses are a daily visitor. Location near NC/VA border means sparsely occupied beach great for setting up your “ beach camp” to enjoy before..or after..your dip in the private pool. Definitely requires 4x4 vehicle."
"Nice place & location for the most part. A few things that would’ve been great to know was that there is no ice maker & the 2 refrigerators won’t make enough ice for 1 cooler let alone several families & it’s a 2 hour round trip for ice. Also luckily we talked to the local water guy when we got down there & he could not stress enough to not drink the water & it is ocean water that is filtered."
Thank you for your review. The local water guy was incorrect in relation to our home we have a water treatment system which is listed on the amenities section that is tested annually. We do not advertise an icemaker. Ice is available for sale at the Carova Fire Station.

"We loved staying at Paradise Lost. The views were amazing! The beach access made it so convenient to go from beach to pool, and the kiddie pool was a major bonus and loved by my kids. However, I do not recommend this rental to families with very young children because the height of the decks with the bench seats, and the high living space railings made me very uneasy to leave my young children (ages 3 & 5) even for a moment. We ended up blocking off the deck sliding doors, and pulled all couches away from the railings for safety concerns. Families with older children would be better suited for this home. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Thank you for your hospitality!"
