"The home was absolutely amazing! The house was perfect for our large group! We loved the pool, bar area and beach. The kitchen and living room area were great for us to make large meals and to watch the horses daily! All of us had a wonderful week together!"

Was very happy there was a dumb waiter to get up heavy suitcases and the commericial ice maker was absolutely perfect. We enjoyed many evenings at the pool bar while kids played in the pool. "Another great week at OBX State of Mind for our family which now totals 17 with a range of ages from 3 to 72. As our grandchildren are past the baby stage, having that whole separate area with the bunks, bedrooms and living area is great for them. Love the addition of the movie seats in the first floor, made the first floor rec room a great place to watch movies. House well stocked and maintained. Plenty of room even when the weather is less than perfect."

"My family had a wonderful time staying at TheState of Mind! What a beautiful spacious home. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed. (crockpot, Keurig and regular coffee pot, griddle, waffle maker, blender, lots of pots and pans). We would definitely stay here again. It was very clean and welcoming. Everyone had so much fun downstairs playing pool and other games in the evening. We even had a ping pong competition. The bedrooms were roomy and the beds were very comfortable. The young ones and teenagers loved their own area to hang out and sleep. Having enough room for our children and their families, along with my father all together was a very special treat!"

Each year we are tackling new renovations and putting every bit of revenue back into the house to make the stay better for our guests. "Been to the home several times. Fits our family very well. All adults get ocean facing rooms and the upstairs bunk room is great for kids. The whole first floor is dedicated to recreation which is great for not so great weather days. Like that the hot tub is now in the pool area. Frees up the second floor deck which is very nice and shady with cool breeze. Like the indoor/outdoor bar area. The blue tooth speaker is a great addition."

"The home was great and in a great location on the 4x4 beaches. Plenty of space for a large family to spread out and enjoy time in the Outer Banks. The house came with all the amenities you could want, including a great table game room in the garage and a pool table in the basement. There were also a fair amount of board games included with the house. The kitchen was large and had many of the essential cooking/baking/storage supplies. The best part was being able to wake up to the sunrise and see the wild horses walking around just outside the house!"
"Beautiful views, awesome layout. Was plenty of space for our large group of 20+ people. The bar was amazing, the ice maker was a dream come true after vacationing in Carova for many years. The kitchen had every gadget you could need. It was pretty clean too for a rental home. We had a few maintenance issues, but we always do, it's par for the course. We plan to re-book this home again. Everyone was happy. And it's almost like the walls are better insulated that in other homes, nobody was bothered by anyone else."

"We were extremely pleased with this home. We have been coming to the Outer Banks for the past 9 years and this was by far the best equipped home we have been in. It was our first time on the 4 wheel beach and it was an experience. We had some concerns about the social distancing on the beach but were pleasantly surprised that being 7.6 miles up the 4 wheel drive beach that was not a concern. It was like we had our own private beach. We are seriously considering coming back to Mermaid's Reef next year."

"This home has everything one would need! From the spacious bedrooms to the huge pool area there is room to relax. The game room is an awesome feature not found everywhere. Multiple appliances made mealtime easy. The unique bar area and dune gazebo were fun gathering places. What a great vacation!"
