The kitchen was stocked far beyond what we have seen in OBX rentals over the last 20 years of coming to the 4x4 Beach. In the heat of the summer, the Dune Deck made for a perfect location in the shade to relax with a book, see and hear the ocean and enjoy the horses that came by several times during the week."

"Reviews of this home said well equipped kitchen. We doubted it and carried a ton of stuff from our kitchen. It was unnecessary. Just bring personal items and consumables. This isn’t a rental house, it’s a family home and is equipped for the task. It truly felt like someone’s home and not a generic built to rent home. Very nicely decorated with tidbits about the outer banks covering the home’s walls. We have already booked this home again and are planning to stay at least once a year."

"The Gull Cottage is a special place and in my opinion the most unique house on Carova Beach. None of us ever plan on being inside much while on the OBX, but lets face it, rainy (or cool) days do happen. The Gull Cottage is so thoughtfully decorated that you really don't mind spending time in the house. They have included a lot of history, amazing decor items, and architectural beauty which makes this house our "go-to" destination. The only negative about Gull Cottage is when it's time to leave, it hurts my heart every time."

"This home is perfectly located. It's right at the end of the NC border (so it is quiet and has less traffic). The house has a wonderful pool, hot tub and well- stocked kitchen. The kitchen had all the items you would need (baking dishes galore, mixing bowls, crock pot, blender, baking sheets, hand mixer, several huge stock pots for seafood boils, 2 full sized refrigerators w/ freezers). We had a family of 6 adults and 6 kids and we brought a LOT of food. We had no issues with storing any food in the kitchen pantry and 2 refrigerator/freezers. Items we would like to see improved in the house are the quality of the mattresses in the bedrooms. The door knobs were odd and hard to open some doors (kids and parents alike got stuck in the main floor's bathroom). The TV was a little outdated and the surround sound system kept failing. This was extremely annoying when the kids were all watching a movie. When the sounds fails we had to restart the sound system. I really hope that gets updated this year. All in all you can't beat a huge house that's ocean front and has a pool and hot tub!"
