"Had a great week at Whalewatcher! The home was comfortable and nicely laid out for two families with children. Pros were affordability and proximity to the beach - very easy walk down to beach access and the house was pleasantly decorated. We did have some exciting wolf spider encounters but nothing too crazy. The hot tub was a nice touch since there is no pool!"

"Whalewatcher was perfect for our small family of 4, with plenty of room to have additional family next time! Our kids are 5 and 6 and found plenty of fun activities to do nearby as well as at the house (there was even a closet full of games and puzzles for all ages). The house was nice but not "overly nice", meaning that we weren't constantly worried about the kids breaking something. The breakable items were mostly in the large dining room which we didn't use and high up where they could not get to them. Absolutely perfect for young families; there was even a pack and play and a crib for young families that may need those. There was a hot tub on the second floor of the deck which was wonderful for relaxing after a day at the beach and also a jacuzzi tub in the master bathroom with jets. The master bathroom shower was a tight squeeze but there were a total of 3 full bathrooms so it was not a problem at all for us. The kitchen was stocked with a lot of cooking utensils and two coffee pots (a drip one and one for coffee pods). There were several tvs and dvd players throughout the house (if you could figure out how those worked) as well as cds, books, vcr tapes, beach items, basketball (for the hoop in the long driveway), and grill items; all things to make you feel right at "home". The washer and dryer were nice, however, the dryer was a bit tall for me (I'm 5'2") so a little step stool would make a nice addition in the future. Both the beach and the sound were within walking distance and only a few miles from the 4WD beach with the wild horses. The location was great for us as we were able to get away from the busy areas but still be close enough to get groceries, etc within 10 minutes of driving. The trees around the house offered more privacy than what we saw around most other beach houses. Even being a corner house we didn't get too much extra noise during the night other than one night. We would definitely recommend this house for any families wanting a quiet place close to the beach!"

"This rental is very well equipped. We were there in December but if you visit in the summer, there are so many places to sit inside and out. The kitchen has many tools including a blender and a crock pot. And the freezer makes ice! Each bedroom as a bureau to store clothes and some have a TV. The bathrooms have space for your personal items. If you bring your own towels, remember to bring a floor mat and you may want to consider a slip proof mat for the main floor shower. The main floor has 2 tables set up so you could use one for dining and one for a puzzle. OR, the large coffee table in the living room will also support a puzzle. The seating in the living room is very cozy and allows for many members of the family to sit together. The home is tastefully decorated with artwork in every room. The curtains can be pushed back easily to let bathe the main level in light. The living room area has 2 sky lights. Bring a basketball if you visit in the warm weather. It is a quick walk to the beach so you don't have to hassle with parking. Twiddy was very easy to work with."

"the house was good, close to the beach and close to some stores, groceries and shopping, restaurants. it would be nice if some of the trees around were trimmed, when you sit on the deck you can not see out past the trees. everything else was ok. we did not use the hot tub, but it was running. twiddy was very helpful and answered all my questions quickly."

"Perfect location with a short 5 minute walk to the beach. Beach was NOT crowded which was a pleasant surprise. Note, however, this section of the beach did not have lifeguards. Property was very private and had plenty of parking space. House was very comfortable. Kitchen has all the dishes, pots, etc. that you could need, including a Keurig. Although we didn't use, there was a hot tub, large grill, beach chairs, beach umbrella, and boogie boards. For entertainment, there were movies and music on CD's. Suggestions for improvement include need for nozzles on the outdoor hoses to facilitate washing away cobwebs, need for better instructions for using tv's, and king mattress in master bedroom was a bit uncomfortable. Hope the sluggish drain in the master bathroom sink has been fixed by now. Overall, I would definitely recommend renting this house."

"Excellent location close to beach with privacy from surrounding trees. Would highly recommend. Just remember to bring toilet paper, paper towels, towels (bath and kitchen), dish soap, dishwasher tabs, and laundry soap. Kitchen has lots of utensils, pots, pans, etc for eating in. House is spacious and comfortable! Would love to visit again in the future!"

"Our family had a fantastic stay at Whalewatcher! From the furniture, decor, the kitchen, and the walkway to the beach right outside the home. We felt right at home at this house and were very sad to leave at the end of the week. As for the kitchen, pretty much had at least double of the pots, pans, coffee makers, etc. I just hope this home is available for our next OBX trip."
