"The amount of space is key especially when you have a larger group of 20+ people. Inside and out, there was never a time any of us felt crowded together. Additionally, the elevator played a huge part in helping some of our older guests get from floor to floor and avoid the stairs"

"The Big Chill is an outstanding property. The kitchen is extremely well appointed with enough space and equipment to support cooking a large holiday meal. We love the layout of TBC. There are plenty of gathering spaces, inside and out. Lots of room for playing games, crafting, and puzzles. There is a nice separation between the top floor bedrooms and public spaces to minimize noise transfer. The owners are so sweet, leaving a lovely welcome gift and hand written note. You can tell the owners are involved and take pride in their property."

"The house was very clean, very nicely decorated and everything you need in the kitchen to prepare great meals. It's the perfect place to make great family memories. The owners have gone above and beyond to make thier house available and comfortable. Great Job."

"Easy access to the beach over the dune. Large number of rooms that fit well with the open space available for congregating. Pool table and Shuffleboard were well maintained as opposed to other houses we have rented."

"We had a group of 19 people in the house and there was plenty of room for all of us. Next year we are going to have more people with us and I know that won’t be a problem. The house gives off such a great vibe and we had no problem getting into “vacation mode” as soon as we got there. The kitchen had everything we needed to prepare food and even cocktails. More serving dishes, flatware and dinnerware then we needed! The two dishwashers and fridges in the kitchen were great, not to mention the extra sinks at the two wet bars, and the third dishwasher at the downstairs wet bar! We always had one dishwasher running and one filling. The house is set up in a way that we could truly enjoy all the different spaces in the house and decks. Several times in the evening we sat on the second floor deck and watched the sun set, and in the mornings the sunrise over the ocean from the main floor deck was breathtaking (if you’re an early riser like my husband, you can also enjoy the Milkieway and moonrises from there in the wee-hours). We all enjoyed the pool table, shuffle board table and theater room. The heated pool was perfect for April and everyone enjoyed it. The volleyball net and ball they provide for the pool was a nice bonus because we have some volleyball players in the family. Don’t forget the hot tub and outdoor showers! This house has so much and I could go on and on for days! Most importantly we saw horses everyday on the beach, in the dunes and right in the front yard. We enjoyed ourselves so much we rebooked the Big Chill for the same week. We would highly recommend The Big Chill and Twiddy! Thank you Guys and Jim for sharing your house with us!"

"The Big Chill is an amazing property, our favorite so far! The homeowners provided a warm welcome with a lovely handwritten note and gift. The house was beautifully appointed with every possible item we could have needed including extra blankets, kitchen tools, dishwasher pods, etc, We were able to cook a large Easter dinner for our group of 17 with ease. Not only did the kitchen provide ample space to store and prep the food, but we had enough dishes, pots and pans, serving dishes, etc., to create a beautiful meal. We have stayed in a few other large, OBX homes, but The Big Chill has the best layout by far. The private and public spaces were well defined. We especially liked the layout of the top floor which provided beautiful gathering space for our large group, while also shielding the top floor bedrooms from traffic flow and noise. The outdoor spaces were also well appointed with ample seating and lounging areas. This was very important because the view is simply stunning and drew people outside from sunrise to sunset. Finally, the bottom floor was simply outstanding and quickly became a favorite hang out for pool, shuffle board, and moves."

"Loved the spacious & cozy ambiance The Big Chill offered. The entertainment system in the great room provided great sound & was put to use during our stay while we cooked. The only suggestion I have would be to swap out the stools for more cushy ones in the kitchen & great room. Other than that, an amazing home!!"

"The Big Chill has it ALL - the Joyce's have simply put "DONE IT RIGHT" 5 of us spend two weeks celebrating the life of a counselor friend we lost last Christmas/New Year's and had a grand time. Views, horses (especially walking on the beach), deer, foxes, horse guides w/ humans (LOL) - it's Heaven on Earth Entire house is stocked w/ ALL you need - the Joyce's have thought of everything! "The home was beautiful and well cared for. The views were amazing. You could tell the homeowners take pride in their home with the thoughtfully layout floor plan and the many amenities provided. The double refrigerators were very nice to have as well as the double washers and dryers. Plenty of plates, drink ware and utensils as well nice serving ware. Enjoyed many meals in the beautiful dining room with its gorgeous views of the ocean. The AC worked amazingly keeping each floor cool. The pool area was lovely with plenty of seating.and awesome speaker system. The owners even left a welcome bag with coffee mugs and cup and lovely welcome note. We loved the house so much we booked it for next summer before our week was even up. We can’t wait to come back."

"The Big Chill vacation home has become our favorite rental home in the Outer Banks. The owners have put a lot of thought into providing most everything a extra large family gathering would need. The proximity to the beach is great and the ocean views, sunrise and sunsets are spectacular!! We have been blessed with the beautiful wild horses, 9 of them one day on the lawn, right outside our doors. We watched them from our balconies while they grazed and ignored us. A big thank you to the owners for sharing their home."

The home has enough room and activities for everyone to enjoy. It is perfectly situated in that you do not see any neighbors from the back of the house giving it an even more private/secluded feel. Truly a vacation that none of us will ever forget, this is a highly recommended property!!"
