How far away is the nearest hospital? One relative has medical issues and we need to sure he will have some access for treatment if needed. Also is this place closer to Virginia then NC but beach?
The nearest hospital would be Outer Banks Hospital in Nags Head, NC. It is an approximate 1 1/2 hour drive from V12093 to the hospital. The home is closer to Virginia, however, there is no way to get to Virginia as all access is gated and locked.

Do you have a pack and play or portable crib at the house?
Ashley, baby equipment is not guaranteed for any of our vacation homes. Baby item safety requirements and recalls constantly change and many become obsolete after just one vacation season. For these reasons, Twiddy and our homeowners have begun to remove baby items from homes. If you prefer not to bring your own, there are several great companies in the area to rent baby items and a number of other fun vacation items like bikes, surfboards, beach equipment, etc. We recommend: Moneysworth Equipment Rentals - www.rentitobx.com 1-800-833-5233; Ocean Atlantic Rentals - www.oceanatlanticrentals.com 1-800-635-9559; Just for the Beach - www.justforthebeach.com 1-866-629-7368

Can you send me a copy of the list of acceptable cars that can drive on the beach. Also can we bring our own waverunners?
Anthony, all wheel drive (AWD) vehicles are not recommended for this area due to ground clearance and traction concerns—our experience shows that AWD vehicles in this area are problematic at best. 4x4 vehicles with off-road ground clearance are recommended with reduced air pressure for beach travel. Please consult your vehicle manual and manufacturer for specific information. Currituck County does not allow personal motorized watercraft on the ocean. Jet skis and personal motorboats are allowed on the Currituck Sound. The closest boat ramp is located at the Whalehead Club in Corolla.

Thank you for your inquiry, Dan! To access this home you will drive up the beach approximately 8 miles before driving over the dune line and turning on the Sandfiddler. The roads in the 4x4 area are made of sand and the conditions can change daily. For example, they are more packed down after it rains. However, they are accessible.

The beach area- do cars mostly drive on the beach while people are laying out and enjoying it? I am worried about my kids! Sorry hard to explain.
Laura, the beach is essentially the highway in the 4x4 area. There are signs that designate where to drive and where to park. The middle of the beach is for parked vehicles and beach-goers. The speed limits is 35 mph unless within 300 feet of pedestrians or wild horses. Then is drops to 15 mph. Twiddy's 4x4 Beach driving info says "4x4 vehicles with off-road ground clearance are recommended ... for beach travel." From Twiddy's experience what 4x4 vehicles (make & model) are recommended for driving to and from and on Carova Beach? Thanks!

Please consult your vehicle manual and manufacturer for specific information. Twiddy & Company will not be responsible for vehicle recovery if inappropriate vehicles are used for access to the northern beaches. Beach Warning Flags
During dangerous surf conditions, red "No Swimming" flags fly at beach entrances. Whenever red flags are flying, swimming is prohibited. At such times, ocean conditions have been determined to be unsafe and swimmers are at serious risk of injury or death if they enter the water. For your safety, please heed all red flag warnings.
Rip currents are fast-moving currents of water that can quickly pull even the strongest swimmers away from the shore. Since the current flows under water, it’s important to know the signs of a rip current and avoid the water in that area.
According to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), indicators of rip currents include:
Be sure to read lifeguard stand signs when arriving at the beach. If you see warning signs of rip currents or moderate or high hazard flags, stay out of the water and alert others to do the same. If caught in a rip current, you should stay calm to conserve energy. Don’t try to fight the current. Instead, swim with the current, and swim toward shore once you’re out of the current.
