We’re keeping an eye on changing weather conditions heading into the weekend. A cold front moved through the area yesterday, bringing cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and a steady wind. Today has been a beautiful fall day on the Outer Banks, though the ocean remains rough.
Winds are expected to ease slightly tomorrow before picking back up as a coastal low pressure system develops offshore this weekend. This system could bring periods of rain and gusty winds tomorrow through the weekend, along with hazardous ocean conditions and higher than normal tides.
For guests traveling to or from the 4x4 beaches, low tide remains the best time for beach driving. Departing guests are encouraged to plan travel as close to low tide (around 4:00 AM) as possible, since the tide will be rising around 10:00 AM normal check out time. Arrivals will have smooth sailing.

We’re keeping a close eye on developing weather conditions for this weekend. A cold front has moved through the area, bringing cooler temperatures, lower humidity, and a shift in winds.
A coastal low pressure system is expected to form offshore Saturday into Sunday, which could bring gusty winds, periods of rain, and rough ocean conditions. At this time, low tides are expected to align well for weekend check-ins, so travel to the 4x4 beaches should not be negatively impacted.
If you’re already on the Outer Banks, please secure any loose outdoor items, as winds will increase tonight and remain breezy through the weekend. If you do venture out to the beach, please stay out of the ocean when red flags are flying.
