Pets are not allowed on the beach from May 15 to September 15. A leash law is enforced the remainder of the year and states that leashes cannot exceed 10 feet in length.
Duck's leash law requires leashes to not exceed 10 feet in length. Pets are allowed to play unleashed on the beach under close supervision of the owner. Beaches are pet-friendly year-round. The Town of Duck works with the Dare County SPCA to provide a "safe pet vacation kit" for visiting pet owners. The kit is available at the Town’s Public Safety Building (at the Duck Fire Department) or by calling (252) 261-1112.
Leashes are required but there are no length requirements.
Remember to clean up after your pet and do not bury pet waste in the sand or throw it in the ocean as it is not permitted.
