Preserving Vacation Memories

Capture Treasured Moments at the Beach

You’ve planned, you’ve packed, and now you’re excited to make memories on the Outer Banks!

In many cases, the yearly OBX vacation is the only time family members see each other and spend a significant amount of time together. Families that are spread out across the east coast may find it difficult to get together during the hustle and bustle of the school year, or even during the holiday season. The Outer Banks during the summer is the perfect meet-in-the-middle destination.

Getting the family together for long days on the beach has become a yearly tradition that we are honored to be a part of.  We feel fortunate to see the same families return year after year, as we watch the kids grow from bright-eyed toddlers to college students.

In the age of technology, capturing and sharing moments is easy. Our smartphones are with us at all times, even on vacation, always ready to capture those precious moments. There’s just one problem with relying on a smartphone for photos: the person taking the picture is not in the photo. (We’re talking to you, moms everywhere!)

Cousins meeting for the first time, the elders of the family holding the newest member of the family, the entire family together in one place. These moments deserve more than a smartphone photo.

Luckily, we know some phenomenal photographers that find great joy in capturing moments and preserving memories. A photoshoot with Brooke Mayo Photographers feels less like a photo shoot, and more like a fun afternoon on the beach. No matter how stressful it was getting everyone ready for family photos (talking to you again, moms everywhere!), Brooke and Candace will get everyone comfortable and laughing. Family photoshoots can be challenging – sometimes it’s scorching hot or windy, or the kids are just not having it. Professional photographers have a magical way of taking photos that turn out stunningly beautiful even if you don’t feel like the photoshoot went all that well.

It’s great to include furry family members in your professional photoshoot as well. Give your photographer a head’s up and be sure to check rules for pets on the beach that you will be going to for your photoshoot.
