Last updated on July 7th, 2020 An Outer Banks Father’s Day isn’t one size fits all. There are plenty of activities to do throughout the island that will appeal to all interests! No matter what you choose, the importance of celebrating the wonderful, supporting, and loving fathers in our lives will not be lost! Consider some of our Twiddy father’s favorite ways to spend Father’s Day! 1. Something for the fishing fanatic? The Outer Banks is a fisherman’s paradise, reel in the memories of a local fishing charter. If you prefer a land moored experience, cast a line off of the recently renovated Avalon Pier or visit a local favorite, the Outer Banks Fishing Pier, and the attached Fish Heads Bar and Grill! 2. Harp on history at Wright Brothers Memorial! Visit the historical Wright Brothers Memorial and absorb the history of flight. Stop by the multiple attractions at the memorial by following this “Places to Go” guide! Located in the hustling and bustling community of Kill Devil Hills, stop by for a sweet treat at Scoops Homemade Ice Cream Parlor or get in a game of putt-putt at Lost Treasure Golf! 3. Bond over a local brew at two local spots! Sip and swirl a local brew at the Outer Banks Brewing Station or Outer Banks Distilling! Their local beers and crafted rums will add to the perfect vacation rest and relaxation recipe. If Dad’s more interested in channeling his inner bartender, check out our OBX Cocktail Guide! 4. Quality time in the quaint Nags Head Woods! If Dad loves to engulf in nature, head to the Nags Head Woods Preserve for a serene walk or bike ride. You can rent bikes from local rental companies including Moneysworth or Ocean Atlantic Rentals. Check out some of our favorite local trails in our OBX Hiking Trails and Scenic Bike Routes guide! 5. Sharpen your swing for a round of golf! Get your tee time scheduled and pencils sharpened for a golf day with dad! Kilmarlic Golf Club, The Currituck Club, and Nags Head Golf Links are just some of the many options for a versatile round of 18! 6. Swing and sway to live local musicians! End the night with some live music at some local Outer Banks spots! Steve Hauser will be echoing through Miller’s Waterfront Restaurant or catch some acoustic tunes with Graham Outten at Outer Banks Brewing Station! Or if you want to be the entertainment, head to Jolly Roger or Secret Island for Karaoke night! These are just some of the ways you can celebrate the fathers in your lives this Father’s Day. Whether you show appreciation through a bonding beach day or a bustling bar crawl, show the dad in your life some appreciation this Sunday!
