OBX Girls Trip Itinerary

Let’s Go Girls

Planning a girls trip to the Outer Banks? You’ve come to the right place. We’ve put together the perfect plans for a memorable beach trip with the gals. Here are our recommendations for how to spend your mornings, days, and nights on your OBX girls trip, as well as our tips on what to do before you hit the road.

Before Your Trip

Book a Place

First things first, you’ll need a place to stay! Figure out how many people are coming and find a rental that will accommodate your group’s needs.

Pack

The hardest part of packing is deciding what clothes to bring. The Outer Banks is a casual destination, but that doesn’t mean you can’t dress up either. Here are the essentials to bring with you: swimsuits, comfy clothes, and a few nice outfits for pictures or dinners out. Also, don’t forget a hat or sunglasses for the beach! Check out our packing list for more ideas on what to bring.

Mornings

Sunrise

Mornings on the Outer Banks are magical. Even if you’re not a morning person, we promise it’s worth it to wake up early for at least one sunrise.

Coffee

Make sure you check out some of the many local coffee shops. Whether you stick to plain black coffee or want to try a new latte flavor, these spots won’t disappoint.

Homemade Brunch

It’s not a girls trip without brunch! Have some fun cooking up your favorite brunch foods and then enjoy some time around the table together.

Yoga

If you want some movement in your morning, yoga is a great option. If you’re staying in Corolla, there’s free yoga at Historic Corolla Park every Thursday morning. Other options include Village Yoga in Duck, and Outer Banks Yoga in Kitty Hawk, which offers classes on the beach as well as in the studio.

Days

Beach

The beach is obviously the best place to spend your days! Soak up the sun, read a book under the umbrella, or cool off in the water. Don’t forget to bring sunscreen, water, and beach snacks.

Walks

There’s nothing like a long walk at the beach. Walk near the water line and see if you find any treasures from the ocean along the way.

Shopping

Check out the local shops for some souvenirs or cute new outfits. This is a great thing to do on any day, but especially if you find yourself with a rainy day on your trip. Stop by Tim Buck II in Corolla, the boardwalk in Duck, or the many stores in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head.

Day Trip

If you want to take an adventure on one of your days for a change of scenery, take a day trip to Manteo or Ocracoke, or spend the day on the 4×4 beaches if you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle.

Nights

Dinner

Make sure you go out to dinner at least one night for some local fare! There are great options for seafood as well as many other cuisines. Another fun idea for dinner is a picnic on the beach. Order a pizza or put together a charcuterie board and bring it to the beach! Just before sunset is a beautiful time to be near the ocean (and a great time for photos!).

Sunset

The sunsets in the Outer Banks are just as special as the sunrises. As the sun begins to sink, head over to the sound to take in the beauty. Some of our favorite spots to catch the sunset are Historic Corolla Park, the boardwalk in Duck, and Jockey’s Ridge in Nags Head.

this week on the outer banks - live music

Live Music

Enjoy some live music (or maybe sing some of your own at karaoke!). There are lots of options for places that offer live music and karaoke, no matter where you are staying in the Outer Banks.

Movie Night

Your OBX girls trip wouldn’t be complete without a movie night. Have a chill night on the couch with some popcorn, candy, and your favorite movies. For a luxury experience, stay in a home with a theatre room.

We hope you enjoy your OBX girls trip! Make sure you book soon, it’s always best to plan ahead and start getting excited for your trip. See you soon in the Outer Banks!
