How can I help?
One of the most popular questions we get during an hurricane event is how people who love ❤ the Outer Banks can help the people on the Outer Banks to get this wonderful place and its people back on their feet.
This time around, initial reports of profound damage around Ocracoke Island have many of us asking what we ourselves can do to help with what will be a very long recovery for our friends to the south.
Helping is simple: Go online and make a donation to the Outer Banks Community Foundation.
While there are many groups who can help, the Community Foundation has the local connections, staff, and expertise to make a fast and sustainable impact exactly where its needed the most.
As we have in the past, Twiddy & Company this morning made a $1,000 donation to the disaster fund at www.obcf.org and we encourage anyone who loves the Outer Banks to make a meaningful donation as well.
You can also help by following the OBCF on Facebook and sharing their updates with your friends and loved ones.
Initial reports this morning include regional water and power outages that may continue for days in addition to broad clean-up efforts across the area. We appreciate your kindness and patience as we work to get our tourism industry up and running again.
We look forward to welcoming you back to the Outer Banks when it is safe to do so. In the meantime, take a moment to make that donation and share your love of this wonderful place.
