Private Pools

Private pools are available from the weekend of April 30 through the weekend of October 15, 2010 unless otherwise advertised. Pools are cleaned, vacuumed and serviced the day of guest arrival. A mid-week service, including chemical and mechanical checks, is provided, but does not include cleaning or vacuuming. Guests will be charged for additional cleanings required due to misuse. Availability and charges vary for heated private pools; please see individual home information for details. Unless otherwise advertised, pools are not heated during the months of July and August. Fees for heated pools are either fixed (plus tax) or included in the rental fee. For homes offering this amenity at a fixed rate, no refunds will be issued if the guests decide they would like this amenity turned off during their stay. Requests for this optional amenity must be confirmed and paid for prior to your arrival. An additional $50.00 fee will be charged when this service is ordered at check-in or during your stay. Please note that pool heaters are delicate amenities. Their efficiency is subject to the climate and weather conditions. The maximum temperature heated pools are generally able to reach ranges from 75 to 80 degrees. Salt air is quite corrosive and may hinder the function of these amenities after prolonged exposure.

Occasionally, some of the pools in Dare and Currituck counties experience a mild ground current. Generally this is not caused by a pool defect or the household electrical system, but appears as a result of the earth’s own natural electrical current. Certain homes may be affected and the current tends to be intermittent in nature. Please be advised, however, that this may affect the operation of pacemakers and other similar devices. Back to Top

Outdoor community pools

Outdoor community pools are usually available from Memorial Day to Labor Day and only welcome guests and homeowners of that subdivision. Most communities do not allow guests to use the community amenities prior to check-in, so please plan your arrival time accordingly. Back to Top

Hot Tubs

Hot tubs are equipped with water heaters and thermostats for temperature control. Hot tubs are available year-round, and are cleaned, vacuumed and serviced the day of guest arrival. A mid-week service, including chemical and mechanical checks, is provided, but does not include vacuuming or cleaning. Guests may be charged for additional cleanings required due to misuse. Homes not equipped with hot tubs do not allow the rental of hot tubs or soft spas due to possible electrical and/or structural problems.

Pregnant women, persons taking medication and those with diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease or other cardiovascular conditions should consult their physician prior to entering a hot tub. Children under the age of 12 are prohibited from entering hot tubs at any time. Overuse or misuse of hot tubs will result in a higher possibility of infection, as sanitizers are not able to combat abnormally elevated levels of bacteria. Please do not remove floating chemical dispensers from your hot tub at any time. Removal may result in minor health related problems, such as folliculitis. Back to Top

Fireplaces

Fireplaces are available until April 23 and after October 15, 2010. Propane deliveries may take several days and cannot be guaranteed. No refunds will be issued for non-functioning fireplaces. Back to Top

Elevators

To help ensure the safety of you and your family, please use caution and care in the operation of the elevator if one is installed in your vacation home. This amenity is intended to be used solely in the capacity of assisting the infirmed or aiding in the loading and unloading of heavy luggage, groceries, etc. Please follow all posted safety instructions. Internet Access

High-speed wireless internet access is a standard amenity in most of our vacation homes (except for Twiddy Traditional Homes and those located in the 4x4 area). Guests should contact the internet provider directly for customer support or service problems using the information placed in the home. Linen Service

Bed and bath linens are provided for reservations of seven days or more. However, linens are not included as a standard amenity in the Twiddy Traditional Homes. Guests may rent bed and bath linens through Twiddy (a package for the whole home, or individual sets) or bring their own linens and towels from home. Back to Top

Seasonal Amenity Dates

Below are the approximate dates for which seasonal amenities are available:

• Private pools are available from the weekend of April 30 through the weekend of October 15, 2010 unless otherwise specified.
• Heated pool dates may vary; see home description to verify availability.
• Outdoor community pools are usually available from Memorial Day to Labor Day.
• Fireplaces are available until April 23 and after October 15, 2010.
• Hot tubs are available year-round.

Twiddy's Welcome Program

It’s a way the owner can say, “Welcome, and enjoy your stay.”

Twiddy homes that advertise “Welcome Program” as an amenity provide guests with a Vacation Starter Kit for their arrival. Enjoy the convenience of starter household supplies such as detergent, a garbage bag and paper towels, all in a Twiddy reusable grocery bag. Additionally, soap, shampoo and toilet paper will be placed in every bathroom.

These homeowners want to take care of some of the little necessities so you may begin to relax and enjoy your vacation.
