Below you will find a short description describing the abbreviations, definitions, cottage location information and standard furnishings that Twiddy & Company refers to when referencing your vacation home.

Abbreviations
- L1 - Ground Floor
- L2 - Middle Floor
- L3 - Top Floor
- L4 - Ship's Watch/Loft
- MBR - Master Bedroom (bedroom with a private bath).
- BR - Bedroom
- K - King Bed
- Q - Queen Bed
- D - Double Bed
- T - Twin Bed
- BS - Bunk Set; two twin beds.
- Duo Bunk - Bunk set with a double on the bottom and a twin on the top.
- Double BS - Bunk set with a double on the bottom and a double on the top.
- Tr - Trundle Bed; twin bed that stores under another.
- DB - Daybed
- SS - Sleep Sofa
- Futon -Thin mattress placed on a floor or on a raised, foldable frame.

Definitions
A great room is a room with living and dining areas that are open to the kitchen.
A gameroom or rec room is an entertainment room which may include amenities such as a pool table, foosball, ping pong, etc.
A home theatre system is an entertainment system that includes TV with surround sound and multiple speakers.
A media room is a separate room with large-screen TV, multiple speakers and adequate seating for multiple viewers.
A theatre room is a self-contained room with door, sloped floor, stadium seating and projection TV with approximately 100-inch screen.
A private den is a den that can be closed to provide privacy.
A semi-private bath has two entries; one from a bedroom and one from a hall or another room.
A shared bath is situated between two bedrooms and is accessible by both.
A hall bath is only accessible from the hallway.
A cabana bath is poolside or has direct access to the pool area.
A half bath has no bathtub or shower.
A hot tub is located outside and has jets, a heater and a hard shell.
An ice machine is a stand-alone appliance which makes large quantities of ice.
An optionally-heated private pool may be heated for an additional fee if requested and paid for prior to arrival; see individual descriptions for cost and availability dates.
A whirlpool is a bathtub with jets.
A hot tub is located outside and has jets, a heater and a hard shell.
A poolside cabana is a permanent, free-standing, shaded structure located near a private pool area usually with an open side facing the pool.
A kiddie pool is a pool designed for use by children with no or minimal filtration, less than 3 feet in depth and not larger than 15 feet in any dimension.
A guest house is a small house or cottage separate from, but adjacent to, a main house, used for lodging guests.
Pet-Friendly Homes list specific restrictions regarding the number, size or type of pets in their individual descriptions.
Bumper Pool is a billiard game played on a small table with several fixed cushioned obstacles that necessitate the use of bank shots.
High-Speed Wireless Internet Access allows users of personal and hand-held computers to connect to the internet at high speed without cables.
Special Event Homes allow large gatherings, such as a wedding, for an additional fee & security deposit. Guests must call our office to make arrangements for a Special Event reservation.

A dune deck is an oceanfront sitting area.
A walkway to the beach runs directly from an oceanfront home to the beach.
A connecting walkway runs directly from an oceanfront home to a neighbor’s or community walkway.
Twiddy homes that advertise “Welcome Program” as an amenity provide guests with a Vacation Starter Kit for their arrival.

Cottage Locations
Aerial maps provide a detailed perspective of cottage locations.
Oceanfront – No other property/lot between the home and the beach. Dunes may obstruct ocean views and may or may not have direct beach access.
2nd-Tier Oceanfront - Although considered oceanfront, 2nd-tier oceanfront lots are shaped like the ivory keys on a piano with the narrow end facing the ocean. Views to the side may be obscured by another house.
Semi-Oceanfront – One lot from the beach; may or may not have direct beach access, ocean views and a street between the home and the beach.
Oceanside – East of NC 12; distance to the beach varies.
Soundfront – Homes that directly front the sound; may or may not have access to the sound.
Soundside – West of NC 12; may or may not have direct access to the sound.
Lakeside – West of NC 12 and east of Crystal Lake in The Villages at Ocean Hill.
Lakefront – West of NC 12 and fronts Crystal Lake in The Villages at Ocean Hill.
West Oceanside – West of NC 12, 3 or 4 lots from the beach.
Accessible by 4x4 only – Ocean Beach, Seagull Beach, Swan Beach, North Swan Beach and Carova Beach. A 4x4 vehicle is required to access the home.
Canalfront- A 4x4 vehicle is required to access the home. These homes directly front a canal that connects to the sound.

Standard Furnishings & Equipment
The following amenities are standard to all homes unless specifically noted in the home description:

Bed and bath linens are provided for reservations of 7 days or more (excluding Twiddy Traditional Homes). Linens are provided for each advertised bed, Futon, rollaway and sleep sofa. Please note crib linens are not provided. Beds (except trundles, top bunks, Futons, rollaways and advertised sleep sofas) are made the day of your arrival. Each home provides one bath towel, one hand towel and one washcloth per sleeping capacity of advertised beds, one bath mat for each full bathroom, one hand towel per half bath and two kitchen towels. Extra bath towel sets are available for an additional fee. Contact us for more information.
For Twiddy Traditional Homes, bed and bath linens are not provided as a standard amenity. Guests may rent bed and bath linens through Twiddy (a package for the whole home or individual sets) or bring sheets and towels from home.
All homes are cleaned prior to guest arrival and after guest departure. If you stay for more than one week, mid-stay cleaning and linen services are available (once per week). These services are complimentary, but must be requested in advance. Please contact our office as soon as possible if you would like to make these arrangements.
